Mo’s tip: When the remaining oil is cool, weigh it again and see how much has been absorbed into the fritters, add this to the recipe total to find the correct values.
I found that it added 17g of fat to the recipe making the total 29.5g. If you have the allowance, they can be served with mayonnaise or a tamarind and mint chutney but remember to add to the values
Ingredients
- 20g Onions
- 15g Eggs
- 2g Garlic paste - GIA
- 1g Caraway seeds
- 1g Garam masala
- 1g Chilli powder
- 50g Soya flour - VIRGOLDEN
- You will also need a pinch of salt, 70mls of cold water and some extra oil for deep frying.
Instructions
- Weigh some oil into a frying pan suitable for deep frying.
- Chop the onion, then mix with all of the ingredients, including 70mls of cold water, to make a thick batter.
- Heat the oil until very hot, then slowly add scoops of the batter to make the desired size fritters.
- Reduce the heat, continue to cook the fritter until crisp and golden.
- Remove from the oil and keep in a warm dish to serve.
