Welcome to the Matthew’s Friends website. We are one of the leading resources of information relating to the ketogenic diet and if you are new to Ketogenic therapy or need a refresher course and an opportunity to network with other Ketogenic teams, our KetoCollege may offer the ideal solution.

New Courses Available

This course offers both scientific background and practical training in all aspects of implementation of the different Ketogenic therapies. Led by recognised Ketogenic diet experts, it will include KetoCollege presentations, practical workshops and time for group discussions.

Whilst primarily designed for new Ketogenic teams including dieticians, doctors and other health professionals, a choice of sessions on day 1 will allow more experienced dieticians to choose medical sessions as an alternative to a diet calculation workshop.

Supervised Dietary Treatments

The Matthew’s Friends clinics for Ketogenic Therapies offers medically supervised dietary treatments for adults and children (over the age of 1 year) through an experienced team of neurologists, dietitians and ketogenic assistants.We specialise exclusively in Ketogenic Dietary Therapies which means we are always up to date with the latest developments and can provide a very detailed and supportive service to each of our patients. Our aim is always to achieve the very best outcome possible.

Although the number of ketogenic centres has increased for children over the past few years, especially since the publication of the Great Ormond Street Clinical trial in 2008 proving the efficacy of ketogenic therapy in children with epilepsy, there is still nowhere near enough provision and for adults the situation is even worse. We will always recommend that any patient be referred to the nearest centre to them in the first instance and where there is no centre or there are long waiting lists, children and adults can be referred to us.

Treating Adults and Children

Our clinic treats both adults and children with epilepsy and Glut 1D and we are currently undertaking a clinical research project with patients who have brain cancer where we have partnered with the Astro Brain Tumour Fund. Our medical board and clinical team work closely together so that we can offer the best possible service to those that are referred to us.
