We are very proud that the Chair of our Medical Board has been honoured with an OBE, for services to childhood epilepsy.
Professor Cross is a leading light in the Ketogenic Therapies world. Thanks to the medical trial she led at Great Ormond Street Hospital (part funded by Matthew’s Friends), proving the efficacy of the diet in children with drug-resistant epilepsy. This lead to the inclusion of the Ketogenic Diet in UK NICE Guidelines and Ketogenic Therapies being far more widely prescribed and available as an effective treatment.
Furthermore, Ketogenic Therapies are now being investigated by global research teams, for the potential treatment of other serious neurological conditions, such as brain cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
